Over-the-counter store brands continue to grow, thanks to a greater allotment of shelf space, a study published by Kline & Co. found. OTC private label brands accounted for a 20 percent share of the total market in 2003* Private label products showed the highest penetration in vitamins and first-aid items, accounting for more than 30 percent of category sales in 2003, the study noted.
